The G30-770 is a Garrett G-Series turbo; Garrett says the 30 is the frame size and the three digits are the maximum horsepower rating. Garrett rates it at 475 to 770 horsepower on engines of 2.0 to 3.5 liters, with an 8 mm dual ceramic ball bearing, a 58 / 71 mm, 65 trim compressor wheel in a 0.72 A/R housing, a 60 / 55 mm, 84 trim turbine wheel and a maximum speed of 150,000 rpm. Supercores are 880693-5002S (standard rotation) and 880694-5002S (reverse rotation); complete turbos 880704-5005S (0.83 A/R) and 880704-5006S (1.01 A/R) come assembled and calibrated with a 0.5 bar actuator, and turbine kits are offered with T3, divided T4 and V-band inlets.
This page lists complete G30-770 turbos, turbo kits, supercores and CHRAs. Garrett’s own guidance on turbine housings: a smaller A/R gives quicker boost response and more turbine power at low engine speed; a larger A/R lets the wheel flow more, with lower back pressure and more power at high engine speed.
