What the Garrett GT2560R is

The GT2560R belongs to Garrett’s original GT Series of performance turbochargers: a ball-bearing turbo with a water-cooled center housing (CHRA) and an internally wastegated turbine housing, sold as a complete turbo with its actuator. Garrett’s part number 836023-5004S has a 46 / 60 mm compressor wheel in a 0.80 A/R housing and a 53 / 42 mm, 62 trim turbine wheel in a 0.64 A/R housing. Garrett’s page gives two ratings: 170 to 270 horsepower on 1.4 to 2.2 liter engines in its summary, and 200 to 330 horsepower on 1.6 to 2.5 liters in its reference table.

This page lists Garrett’s complete turbos (836023-5003S, 836023-5004S, 880934-5001S), the CHRA on its own (835995-5003S), versions with a choice of housings, a bolt-on turbo for the Ford Fiesta ST 1.6L EcoBoost, and separate T25-flange and V-band turbine housings and a compressor housing. Garrett’s own guidance on turbine housings: a smaller A/R gives quicker boost response and more turbine power at low engine speed; a larger A/R lets the wheel flow more, with lower back pressure and more power at high engine speed.
