What the Holset HE300VG is
The HE300VG is Holset’s 300-frame variable geometry turbocharger, made by Cummins Turbo Technologies. Cummins describes the 300 Series VGT as designed for 6 to 9 liter diesels, typically on pickup and cab-chassis trucks, buses, front-end loaders and excavators; an actuator moves the vanes inside the turbo. Cummins says the current 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel in Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups and Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cab trucks uses the HE300VG 8th Generation, with a patented multi-clearance vane system, new compressor and turbine wheels and an upgraded actuator.
Many HE300VG part numbers exist and they do not interchange: Holset distributors list 5326058H for 2013-2018 Ram 6.7L pickups only and 5326057H for 2013-2018 cab and chassis trucks only, for example.
