Garrett GTX2967R Turbochargers

What the Garrett GTX2967R is

The GTX2967R is a Garrett GTX-series turbo with the original GTX compressor wheel and a dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge: a 50 / 67 mm, 55 trim compressor wheel in a 0.60 A/R housing and a 57 / 52 mm, 84 trim turbine wheel, rated at 275 to 470 horsepower on engines of 1.8 to 3.0 liters. Garrett sold it as a supercore (836041-5001S) with a separate turbine kit: a wastegated T25 0.64 A/R housing or free-float V-band housings in 0.61, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R. It is now in Garrett’s archive of models no longer in production.

This page lists GTX2967R turbos with internally wastegated T25 housings (0.64 and 0.86 A/R) and undivided V-band housings (0.61, 0.83, 1.01 A/R), a complete turbo, the supercore and the CHRA. Garrett’s own guidance on turbine housings: a smaller A/R gives quicker boost response and more turbine power at low engine speed; a larger A/R lets the wheel flow more, with lower back pressure and more power at high engine speed.
