The GT3582R belongs to Garrett’s original GT Series, whose compressor wheels Garrett says are cast. It is a ball-bearing turbo with a water-cooled center housing (CHRA), a 61 / 82 mm, 56 trim compressor wheel in a 0.70 A/R housing and a 68 / 62 mm, 84 trim turbine wheel. Garrett rates it at 400 to 675 horsepower on engines of 2.0 to 4.5 liters, offers internally wastegated, non-wastegated and V-band turbine housings, and its turbine kits also fit GT, GTX Gen I and GTX Gen II 35-series supercores (the GT3582R supercore is 836033-5002S).
This page lists GT3582R turbos with a T04S-frame anti-surge compressor housing and T4 undivided V-band turbine housings in 0.63, 0.82 and 1.06 A/R, a version with an RB25DET-style T3 housing, Garrett part numbers 714568-5003S and 714568-5011S, the supercore, the CHRA, an 82 mm compressor wheel and compressor housings. Garrett’s own guidance on turbine housings: a smaller A/R gives quicker boost response and more turbine power at low engine speed; a larger A/R lets the wheel flow more, with lower back pressure and more power at high engine speed.
