What the BorgWarner K04 is
The K04 is a turbo frame from KKK (Kühnle, Kopp & Kausch), whose turbocharger business BorgWarner bought in 1998 and renamed 3K-Warner; BorgWarner part numbers carry over the former 3K numbers. BorgWarner’s own tables list K04 numbers for the Volvo T5 2.5 (53049880162, 2010-2016, engines B5254T5, T12 and T14, in the V40, S60, V60, XC60, XC70 and S80) and the 2013-2019 Peugeot 308 GTi and RCZ 1.6 THP (53049880189). BorgWarner says the Volvo turbo is almost identical to 53049980033, which distributors list for the 2005-2011 Ford Focus ST 2.5.
Distributors also list 53049880023 for the Audi S3 and TT 1.8T (engine BAM) and 53049880064 as the replacement for Audi 06F145702C on the S3 and TTS 2.0 TFSI; all three of those numbers are on this page. It lists complete K04 turbos and CHRAs for Deutz, Volkswagen-Audi, Porsche, Volvo and GM engines.
