What the Garrett GT42R is
GT42R is Garrett’s name for its ball-bearing GT42 turbos, the GT4294R and GT4202R. Garrett’s 2015 catalog rates the GT4294R at 425 to 850 horsepower (500 to 850 on its earlier web page), with a 70.3 / 94.0 mm, 56 trim compressor wheel and an 82 mm, 84 trim Inconel turbine wheel, and the GT4202R at 450 to 1,000 horsepower with a 74.7 / 102.3 mm compressor wheel and the same turbine size, on engines of 2.0 to 7.0 liters (8.0 on the web pages). GT42 turbine housings come with T4 or large diesel inlet flanges.
