About This Remanufactured Mitsubishi Turbo — GM 1.4L LE2
Part number 49180-04052 is the Mitsubishi TD025 turbocharger of GM’s 1.4L LE2 gasoline engine, used in the 2016–2019 Chevrolet Cruze. The earlier 1.4L engines (LUJ and LUV) in the 2011–2016 Cruze, Sonic, Trax and Encore take a Garrett turbo instead. These small-displacement turbocharged engines became extremely popular for their combination of fuel efficiency and peppy performance — but the 1.4L turbo operates at very high shaft speeds to compensate for the engine size, which accelerates bearing wear, particularly in vehicles that do not receive regular oil changes.
Common failure signs include oil consumption, blue smoke under load (after the drain and crankcase ventilation check out), and whistling or grinding noise from the turbo. This remanufactured unit is rebuilt at PT Turbo in San Bernardino, California, with new bearings and seals throughout.

Oil Maintenance Is Critical on the 1.4L
The Mitsubishi 49180-04052 turbo is extremely sensitive to oil quality and change intervals. Before installing any replacement turbo, flush the oil system and install fresh oil and a new filter. Restricted oil passages from old oil or sludge will destroy a replacement unit prematurely. PT Turbo recommends a 5-minute idle period after startup before driving hard to allow full oil pressure to reach the bearings.
